Heritage Rugby League: Philippines, Italy & Māori Come Together
Updated: Oct 1

Despite a challenging week of venue changes, Dudley Chesham Sports Ground came alive for a wonderful day of Heritage Rugby League, bringing together the Philippines, Italy and Māori communities under one sport.
The conditions were hot, but that didn’t stop players, families and supporters from creating a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day. Across the junior and senior divisions, spectators were treated to competitive rugby league, and it was especially great to see a number of players making their representative debuts and proudly wearing their colours. 2026 Debutes: Drake Ayers - Admirals Xavier Cavanna - Admirals Addyson Duquilla - U18 Womens

Off the field, the day had a strong community feel. The Barkada Project provided apparel and accessories merchandise to help kit out the fan base, while other vendors added to the festival atmosphere and gave supporters plenty to enjoy between matches.

For those unable to attend in person, the YouTube livestream allowed family, friends and supporters in Australia and overseas to follow the action and share in the occasion.

A special thank you also goes to our sponsors, whose support helped make the day possible and continues to provide opportunities for our players and communities.
More than the results, the day highlighted what Heritage Rugby League is all about: celebrating identity, creating opportunities and bringing different communities together through a shared love of the game.
Thank you to the players, coaches, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, families and supporters who made the day possible.
Three cultures. Three communities. One game.
