Philippines on the World Stage

The Philippines is building real momentum in International Rugby League. Right now, the men’s team sits at 26th in the world and the women’s team at 22nd, according to the International Rugby League rankings.

That didn’t just happen. It’s come from players consistently showing up, putting in the work, and taking every opportunity to compete,  especially in tournaments like the HRL Challenge 2026.

And that’s why this matters.

For a lot of Filipino athletes in Australia, there hasn’t always been a clear path to represent who they are. This competition helps change that. It creates real opportunities to play at a higher level, to be seen, and to be part of something that connects sport back to culture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started & Commitment

  • Rugby league is a contact sport, but safety is a priority. Players are coached on proper technique, positioning, and awareness to reduce risk in a supportive environment.

  • That’s completely okay. Many players come from Oztag or touch. We focus on fundamentals first, helping players build confidence and develop safely.

  • Most teams train once or twice a month, with games on weekends. We understand work, school, and family commitments — communication with your coach is key.

  • We aim to keep costs as low as possible. Fees go towards uniforms, facilities, insurance, and running the program. As we grow and bring in sponsors, costs will reduce.

  • Players receive uniforms, structured training, game opportunities, and a strong community. It’s about development, exposure, and being part of something meaningful.

  • We understand life gets busy. Consistency helps, but open communication with your coach ensures you can still stay involved.

  • No pressure beyond the season. You’re welcome to start, experience it, and decide what works for you.
