Philippines vs Malta: Players of the Match | Heritage Rugby League 2026
Sunday, 11 October 2026 | Philippines Rugby League
Another big day of rugby league as our Philippines teams took on Malta on Sunday, 11 October 2026, bringing plenty of heart, determination and Filipino pride to the field.
Across our U16 Men's, U18 Women's, U18 Men's and Admirals Men's Opens squads, our players had the opportunity to represent their heritage and put their hard work from training into action.
A massive congratulations to our Players of the Match and Coaches Award recipients, recognised for their efforts, attitude and contributions to their teams.
U16 Mens: Philippines vs Malta
Player of the Match
A great performance from Atai Li-Downie at fullback. Atai earned his recognition for the important role he played at the back, where staying composed under pressure and supporting the team in attack and defence makes all the difference. Well played, mate. Keep backing yourself!
Coaches Award
A well-deserved Coaches Award for Javier Pelias!
Javier was constantly involved in the action, keeping the ball moving, working hard in defence and helping the forwards get on the front foot. Javier's efforts earned him recognition from the coaching staff. Great work, Javier!
U18 Womens: Philippines vs Malta
Player of the Match
A big congratulations to Lani Anderson for taking out Player of the Match!
Lani's role at fullback requires confidence, good positioning and the ability to make decisions under pressure. Whether it's covering the backfield or getting involved in attacking plays, there's plenty of responsibility on her shoulders.
A fantastic recognition for Lani and her contribution to the U18 Women's squad.
Well done, Lani. Keep playing with confidence!
U18 Mens: Philippines vs Malta
Player of the Match
A strong effort from Leki Page, earning himself Player of the Match!
Leki got stuck into the tough stuff through the middle, making your tackles, carrying the ball strongly and helping your teammates build momentum. Well deserved, Leki. Keep ripping in!
Coaches Award
A big shout-out to Ollie Lawrence for picking up the Coaches Award!
Playing in the front row is all about putting your hand up for the tough carries, working hard in defence and laying the platform for the rest of the team.
It's not always the flashy stuff that gets noticed, but every coach appreciates a forward who's willing to roll up their sleeves and get the job done.
Good stuff, Ollie. Keep up the hard work!
Admirals Mens Open: Philippines vs Malta
Congratulations to Jerome Williams on taking out Player of the Match for our Philippines Admirals Men's Opens!
Jerome organised the defensive line and read attacking plays to finding opportunities to get involved with the ball. He kept composure and smart decision-making.
Jerome earned his recognition in a key position for the Admirals, where leadership and communication are just as important as the physical side of the game.
Top effort, Jerome!
Proud to Represent Philippines Rugby League
A massive congratulations to all six players recognised across our four squads.
Individual awards are always great to celebrate, but every performance is backed by teammates doing their jobs, coaches putting in the preparation and families cheering from the sidelines.
A big thank you to our coaching staff, trainers, managers and volunteers who continue to give their time to support our Filipino-Australian rugby league players.
And to Malta Rugby League, thank you for another great opportunity to share the field and celebrate our communities through rugby league.
Maraming salamat to everyone who continues to support Philippines Rugby League! 🇵🇭🏉
