A Landmark Year for Pilipinas Australian Rugby League

As we wrap up 2025, it's hard not to look back with pride. This year was filled with growth, opportunity, and unforgettable moments for the Pilipinas Australian Rugby League (PARL) community. From expanding player pathways to growing female participation and reaching more people than ever online, 2025 marked another important chapter in our journey.

Most importantly, it was a year built by people - players, coaches, volunteers, families, sponsors, and supporters who continue to believe in the vision of creating opportunities for Filipinos through rugby league.

Building Pathways for Filipino Athletes

One of PARL's biggest priorities is creating opportunities for Filipino athletes in Australia to develop, compete, and proudly represent their heritage.

Throughout 2025, our programs continued to grow across multiple age groups and pathways.

Under 16 Boys Program

The Under 16 Boys enjoyed a successful season, taking the field against strong opposition including Malta and Syria.

More than 30 players registered throughout the year, making it one of the strongest participation numbers in the program's history. The growth of our junior pathways continues to provide young Filipino athletes with valuable rugby league experiences while building confidence, skills, and lifelong friendships.

Women's rugby league continues to be one of the most exciting areas of growth within PARL.

Our Underage Girls opened their season against Lebanon, creating new opportunities for young female athletes to participate and represent the Filipino community.

The Tala Rising program also took another significant step forward in 2025. Designed to strengthen the female pathway system, the program continues to create opportunities for women and girls to develop their skills, build confidence, and become part of the future of Filipino rugby league.

As participation grows, so does our ambition to create stronger pathways for Filipino women in rugby league across Australia.

The PARL Admirals program continued its development throughout the year, taking the field against the Thornton Beresfield Bears and providing valuable playing opportunities for athletes looking to progress within the representative pathway.

Every match, training session, and team activity contributes to building a stronger rugby league culture within the Filipino community while helping players prepare for future opportunities.

The fourth annual Asian Footy Fest was once again a highlight of the rugby league calendar.

The event continues to showcase the growth of multicultural rugby league and provides a unique opportunity for communities to come together through sport.

For PARL, it remains an important platform to celebrate Filipino culture, strengthen relationships across the rugby league community, and create unforgettable experiences for players and supporters alike.

Growing Our Digital Community

While much of the action happens on the field, 2025 also saw significant growth across PARL's digital platforms. This year our online community reached new heights:

🏉 Over 765 new Instagram followers

🏉 More than 95,000 video views

🏉 Thousands of community interactions across social media

🏉 Increased visibility for Filipino rugby league in Australia

These numbers represent more than statistics. They reflect a growing community of players, families, supporters, and Filipinos around the world connecting through rugby league.

Every follow, share, comment, and message helps us tell the story of Filipino rugby league and inspire the next generation of athletes.

Built by Community

Behind every game day is a team of people making it happen.

The coaches who dedicate countless hours to player development.

The volunteers who give up weekends to support events.

The families who drive players to training and cheer from the sidelines.

The support staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes.

The sponsors who believe in the vision.

PARL exists because of its community. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, helps move the organisation forward.

Looking Ahead to 2026

While 2025 delivered many milestones, the journey is only just beginning.

The growth of our junior pathways, the continued rise of women's rugby league, increasing community engagement, and stronger partnerships have positioned PARL for an exciting future.

With new programs, new opportunities, and bigger goals on the horizon, 2026 is shaping up to be our most ambitious year yet.

To everyone who played a part in our journey this year: players, coaches, volunteers, families, sponsors, and supporters- thank you.

Together, we're building more than a rugby league organisation.

We're building a legacy for future generations of Filipinos in Australia.

One Community. One Jersey. One Legacy.
